Aloft by Marriott South Bend

Stayed here with my family as part of a group event. Overall, the hotel was clean, modern, and in a good downtown location. The staff was friendly, and one thing that really stood out was how quickly maintenance responded to an issue we had in our room. They took care of it right away, which was greatly appreciated. My biggest concern was the value for the price. At around $175 per night in South Bend, I expected a few more practical amenities. There was no complimentary breakfast and no microwave in the room. The room did have a refrigerator, which was nice, but it seemed strange to have a place to store leftovers without any way to heat them up. The hotel seems geared more toward travelers who value the modern look, trendy atmosphere, and downtown location. There's certainly nothing wrong with that, but as a family, our priorities are a little different. We would much rather have complimentary breakfast and a microwave than some of the trendier features. Those little conveniences make traveling with a family easier and help keep costs down. We enjoyed our stay, the room was comfortable, and the service was excellent when we needed help. I just think families should know that fo

5 minute walk to Century Center. Safe area with ample dining options. Lunch not so much. Nice hotel ~ not posh, but comfortable. Live entertainment at lobby bar. Pool table, huge Jenga blocks and board games also in lobby. Breakfast is NOT free; however, the parking garage is free to guests.

Changed to 1 star because we left 2 pillows behind which they found them which is great. I paid $35 to ship them home but the package has said waiting to receive the package for 2 weeks now! Stayed March 21st. Great location and great atmosphere in the lobby and bar area. We got to the room late due to basketball games running late, going to eat then having drinks at the wxyz bar. Room was hot and stuffy when we got in there. Tried to adjust the temp and nothing happened. Called the front desk and the lady said it takes 30 mins for it to come on! That seems crazy to me. We were in room 1704 and we could hear the elevators all night long. That made it tough to fall asleep.
